The different point of views on obesity have to do with whether or not obesity is a disease. In the article of Prevention it stated “Obesity, like alcoholism, depression, and anxiety, is a disease.” Also by the way Tasneem Bhatia, MD, ( Dr. Taz), medical director and founder, the Atlanta Center for Holistic & Integrative Medicine, say that food as other factor are contributors of being obese, even that diets and exercise fail, “simply because the underlying medical pathology has not been addressed.”6 Even another MD agrees with Dr. Taz. Osama Hamdy, MD, PhD, medical director, Obesity Clinical Program; director, Inpatient Diabetes Management, Joslin Diabetes Center; and assistant professor of medicine, Harvard Medical School said “Obesity is definitely a problem. It is a disease. But we have wrong definition right now for obesity. That’s the point. We need to define it much better.”6 Obesity is an issue right now until there is a clear definition that it is a disease and it can affect anyone at any time and any place. It will be a main problem if it is taken care of when every one is suffering from it.
